    Working within a learning college environment, this position is responsible for developing, managing and evaluating the comprehensive site-based college enrollment program including the following elements: earlycollege connection and exploration, determining college placement, enrollment in dual/concurrent courses, career and educational planning, academic planning, scholarship and financial aid literacy and awareness, and application assistance.This position may be responsible multiple high schools within the Phoenix Union High School District and requires an individual who is self-motivated and adaptable.

    Essential Functions

    45% - Provides professional-level end-to-end Academic Advising to a caseload of students, to to High School students, parents and high school personnel to provide services that increase enrollment and support student learning, academic success and successful transfer to postsecondary; provides 1:1 as well as group academic advising, on-boarding, and success support functions to students to ensure ongoing successful progress in college credit accumulation, to completion of credentials; provides guidance to students on goal setting, decision making, degree and certificate options, transfer pathways, course selection, and registration; identifies academic options including extracurricular activities, study abroad program(s), research, and internship; provides advice and consultation to students in selection of options best suited to student's goals, interests and skills; acts as the primary liaison, informs students of academic and personal resources including tutoring, counseling, and career services; assists in the guidance of Phoenix Union ( PXU) students regarding financial aid and scholarships; implements and performs early college placement testing using PC/MCCCD placement methods; provides ongoing, proactive follow up to ensure student learning and progress outcomes are met; monitors student academic progress through a variety of reporting tools.

    25% - Facilitates activities related to Guided Pathways and the case management approach to program advisement; provides programmatic support of this model by being an institutional resource to improve and advance the advisement role for student success; works collaboratively and collegially with academic units and student services at Phoenix College to facilitate comprehensive academic support for high school partners; acts as college/department liaison to prospective students, faculty, staff, and external groups on issues related to academic advising and success; develops and delivers training and professional development to faculty and staff on topics related to advising; interprets and explains College and Maricopa Community College District policies and procedures related to admissions, curriculum, advising, student success, and degree completion. Handles immediate or sensitive issues requiring confidentiality or quality assurance; escalates matters requiring senior leadership intervention at a Director or Dean level.

    15% - Researches program opportunities, industry standards, trends, best practices and emerging technologies; coordinates projects related to student learning, success, and retention; implements program outreach and/or recruitment and retention; recruist and registers PXU students into PC Dual and Concurrent Enrollment programs; prepares and presents at new student orientations and information sessions for current and prospective students; recruits and enrolls PXU high school students to attend PC/MCCCD post-graduation; designs, develops, maintains and delivers program resource information, presentations, reports, correspondence, and promotional material.

    15% - Develops and assesses student learning outcomes. Conducts assessments; analyzes and maintains program data to gauge student learning and success as well as program effectiveness; coordinates, implements and evaluates processes and procedures. Makes recommendations for program improvements; performs other related duties, services, and support as determined by the Department Manager and PXU Project Manager.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, sociology, business administration or related field and two years of progressively responsible student services
    experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.
     

    OR

    An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as
    those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation may be considered

    Desired Qualifications

    1. Master's degree in Education, Academic Advising, Sociology, a liberal arts or sciences discipline, or related field
    2. One (1) or more years of experience teaching or providing academic or career advising in a college or university setting
    3. Experience using online student databases (i.e. SIS, PeopleSoft, Banner)
    4. Experience using technology to support academic advising/career advising/student success/student learning
    5. Experience working with students from underrepresented/underserved backgrounds and cultures
    6. Experience applying social justice, academic advising or career advising approaches, theories, and competencies to work with students and student groups.
    7. Experience in working independently, prioritizing work-flow, solving problems and making decisions
    8. Effective written communications skills (as evidenced by application materials)
    9. Experience developing and delivering presentations
    10.Knowlege of the philosophy and principles of a Learning College
