What will I do during the placement?
During the placement you will work in a business support role, supporting the business in delivering and in some cases setting tangible objectives, from the simple to the more complex. Responsibilities shall include working closely with the sector management teams to prepare comprehensive sustainability action plans and various support/coordinating tasks, such as environmental/sustainability risk management updates and associate project plans. To succeed in this role, you should have an interest in the technology we operate, along with excellent time management and communication skills, as you’ll collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver results on deadlines. Financial acumen is advantageous to the role to provide some level of budget & procurement assistance to the project management team.
You will p rovide regular, accurate reporting, as required, so that Sector Management have access to the level of information they need about the status of current objectives and plans. Ultimately, the Sustainability Coordinator’s duties are to ensure that activities assigned to them by the Sector Management Team are completed on time, and to the benefit of the business.
What do I need?
You’ll have a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long-term future with us, as often candidates who join us on summer placements consider joining our Graduate Programmes after graduation.
In this role, you’ll ideally be on track to achieve a 2:2 level degree in a Sustainability, Environmental Science degree or related subject. Consideration will also be given to students with other STEM qualifications, however we would love you to have some knowledge of:-
