Black Duck By Synopsys is highly-trusted “gold standard” for open source audits. We deliver many hundreds of audits per year, mainly for clients engaged in M&A transactions, acquiring tech companies. We discover, illuminate and help mitigate open source risks in the target company’s code. Projects typically run 0.5 – 2 weeks and are delivered by an individual or small team.

Open-Source Intern

We are seeking an experienced individual contributor to deliver code assessment services to our customers in a fast-paced environment based out of our Belfast, office. This position will report directly to the Manager of Black Duck On-Demand.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Fully engage in training on Black Duck On Demands tools and processes.
  • Assist with the delivery of code assessment services to customers interested in determining compliance to third-party licensing and security issues.
  • Develop a good understanding of the capabilities of the BDS applications, architecture, and development tools that properly and creatively use features to meet client needs.
  • Liaise with team members with respect to assessments and other projects and activities both in Belfast and Black Ducks other offices, as required.
  • Undertake individual projects defined by management.
  • Liaise with senior members of the team where necessary.
  • Undertake any other activities as are reasonably requested by management.
  • Requirements
  • Studying for Bachelor's Degree with at least a 50% IT-related make up.
  • Knowledge of Windows or Linux operating systems.
  • Knowledge of at least 1 programming language.
  • Ability and willingness to investigate/review source code and other software objects and make decisions based on understanding the code.
  • Have an eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with open source software, third party licensing, open source approval processes, or license compliance governance is a plus.
  • Experience with software development tools, including IDE’s, Code Repositories, and Build Tools is a plus.
