Graduate Sales Engineer in Aberdeen

Join Emerson as a Graduate Sales Engineer , part of our UK & Ireland Sales group, where you can expect excellent technical, product and sales training and the opportunity to learn from some of the best managers and engineers in our industries!

Apply now and partake in a structured 12 months technical and sales programme rotating around the UK sales offices, so you will need to be flexible in relocating and spending approx. 3 months in Leicester and Aberdeen and six months in Stockport.

We are providing a solid technical grounding across multiple departments (for example Process Systems & Solutions, Final Control, Measurement & Analytical and Lifecycle Services amongst other), with countless learning opportunities. Sounds exciting so far?

Your development will be guaranteed and supported by our Global Learning Centre, product/systems specialists, hands-on at our overseas manufacturing sites and underpinned by a 12 months Level 4 Sales executive programme.

You will be collaborating with a mentor from the organisation and a buddy who has participated in the Graduate Programme previously.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HANDLE:

Sales Process

  • Collaborate with customers to understand their business needs and develop a business value proposition specific to the customer requirement;
  • Lead a local market analysis to understand customer requirements and the business behaviors required to achieve goals in target areas;
  • Build quotations based on the engineered solutions and present them in a format that sells their value to customers – this includes establishing appropriate pricing and commercial terms and conditions of sale;
  • Work with Field Sales Engineers and Account Managers to follow-up quotations with the view to turning them into orders;
  • Be actively involved in the sales strategy and qualification process for each of the departments in order to better integrate our market offering. Be the voice of the customer in those discussions;
  • Fully engage in the active promotion of target sales campaigns and/or new product releases;
  • Business Processes

  • Work directly with our customers to technically cleanse orders prior to them being loaded onto the Emerson business system;
  • Perform local market analysis to establish industry sector price benchmarking to ensure competitive and profitable sales;
  • Identify new adjacent space markets and develop marketing strategies to build new additional revenue streams;
  • Promote the sale of products and services ensuring consistency with strategic plans, supporting a solution sales approach
  • Prepare and present technical and commercial proposals to both customers and at internal reviews;
  • Undertake both technical and commercial negotiations during the project proposal process;
  • Maintain evergreen customer records on the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system;
  • Provide your timely input and feedback for department order forecasts;
  • Personal Development

  • Supported by the departments, take ownership for staying on top of our product updates and new product releases;
  • Keep up to date with ongoing improvements in various selling tools;
  • Partner up with a Buddy from the previous graduate programme, and a Mentor from the business to make the most of the experience;
  • Develop and progress your career in Sales Support.
  • WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:

  • Minimum of 2:2 university degree or equivalent, in STEM subject areas, or final year studies graduating in 2021;
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, to include Mathematics and English Language;
  • A genuine interest in STEM subject areas;
  • Flexibility to travel in UK & Ireland and abroad;
  • A valid, full, clean driving license and the use of a car (there will be frequent travel throughout the programme);
  • I.T. literacy and experience in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Passion and drive to be the best in your field.
