We are looking for a Junior Test Automation Engineer who can help us deliver great products & digital solutions to our customers across the globe. Ideally, you will have a great passion for supporting the development and maintenance of large-scale mobile and web applications, with hundreds and thousands of users covering an existing global user base. 


This role is based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. This position is a remote role initially due to COVID-19 but we fully expect to be back in the Newcastle office within a few months and you will be expected to work from there. It is mandatory to have permission to work in the UK legally.


The Opportunity

  • Full-time, permanent, Junior Test Automation Engineer

  • Work on projects to monitor and drive quality

  • Create & manage automated UI testing scripts

  • Create & manage manual tests where needed

  • Monitor usability, performance and accessibility of our apps

  • Contribute to the continual development of our internal testing processes

  • Monitor, track and report on bugs / issues across your projects


Salary £20k - £22k and would ideally suit a recent graduate.


Requirements

  • Essential: an appetite to help us produce quality native mobile and web applications

  • Essential: programming capability for writing automation tests, for example Java or Javascript

  • Desired: experience of mobile testing using Appium or equivalent

  • Desired: experience of cross-browser web testing using Selenium, Cypress or equivalent

  • An aptitude and openness to learning new skills and technologies

  • Strong opinions on what goes into making a quality app around areas including performance, usability and stability.

  • Experience with, or a willingness to extend your skills in testing

  • Working knowledge of Git, Continuous Integration, and other supporting systems

  • An understanding of SCRUM/agile methodologies
