Group/Division

SPTS wafer processing solutions include market-leading silicon etch, dielectric etch, dry-release etch, PVD, PECVD and molecular vapor deposition (MVD), available with a range of wafer-handling options applicable to R&D, pilot production, or volume production environments. SPTS is headquartered and has its main manufacturing facility in Newport, UK, with additional manufacturing in Allentown, Pennsylvania. SPTS operates across 19 countries in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, and offers comprehensive service and spare parts support through a worldwide network of service centers and qualified local agents.

ResponsibilitiesLocation: Newport, South Wales (with international travel)

Primary Purpose of Role and key Responsibilities

  • Customer Sample Processing and Demonstrations
  • Demonstrate SPTS Best Known Method (BKM) processes meet agreed customer specification
  • Assess results using analytical equipment and the associated software
  • Undertake problem solving and trouble-shooting on demo tools and analytical equipment
  • Provide regular updates / passdowns to team members and product marketing on progress of sample/demonstration work
  • Develop good relationships with colleagues, field teams and customers
  • Summarise the sample demonstration results in a written reports and updates for the customer
  • Process development
  • Develop / tune BKM processes to meet specific customer requirements
  • Plan work and execute plans in a safe, sensible and timely manner
  • Contribute constructively to the work of project teams for new products and processes.
  • Research published work relevant to SPTS’ process development
  • Summarise results in a written report or presentation
  • Write technical reports for patent applications
  • Write technical papers for publication at conferences, seminars etc
  • Field Support – to involve frequent international travel and longer term international secondmentsDevelop SPTS processes to meet the agreed specification at customer sitesDevelop good relationships with customersCommunicate results and ideas to field teams
  • Qualifications

  • A good degree in a relevant discipline (Physics, Chemistry, Material Science)Desirable - Masters/PhD degree
  • IT Skills - including as a minimum MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint
