Job description

Do you have a passion for Geography and want to put your excellent knowledge to good use?

Perhaps you have found it difficult to find a role that will enable you to use your degree knowledge to make a difference?

Have you ever considered becoming a teacher?

The exceptional Headteacher of this Walsall secondary school is looking to provide a Geography graduate an alternative route into teaching, whilst developing your confidence, skills and knowledge to make a real difference to the pupils of this school.

  • £325 – £350 per week, term-time only
  • Starting in September
  • Degree in relevant subject, minimum 2:1 and strong A Levels
  • Opportunity to work with KS3 up to KS5
  • Experience working with young people in any capacity is advantageous
  • Interviews being organised over the summer holidays
  • Fabulous teaching experience with opportunity to move onto school direct
  • Located in Walsall
  • The role:

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge within a learning mentor role. You will be using your excellent Geography knowledge to support the class teachers as well as the students. Some students may be struggling to achieve their potential due to barriers to learning they face so on occasion you will be supporting these children. You will also be responsible for gifted and talented intervention work with high-achieving Geography learners who need that stretch challenge. The role will allow you to work with a range of ages from KS3 up to KS5 should you feel confident in doing so.

    The School:

This school is located within close proximity to Walsall town centre and is easily accessible by all public transport. If you drive, then you will be given a parking permit for the onsite car park.

Behaviour is excellent here, recently the school was commended by Ofsted for creating a calm and focused learning environment where pupils are well behaved and polite. GCSE and A level results are consistently high and this is due in part to the high expectations from all staff and students. Many of the students are classed as pupil premium and are from low socio-economic backgrounds. The school is committed to offering all students an excellent education and strives to do this through outstanding teaching as well as having graduate level support.
