Job description

Applications are invited for the above post to commence as soon as possible for a twelve month contract with the possibility of extension. The post will provide an ideal opportunity for someone who is looking to rotate between Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery and Orthogeriatric Surgery experience. This post is not a training post but each Junior Clinical fellow will have a Consultant to act as their educational supervisor/ mentor to provide support and mentoring.

The Hospital is a busy University Teaching Hospital situated adjacent to Junction 11 of the M1 Motorway. There is very good access to Central London by road or rail and the Midlands and the North via the M1 and A1. The hospital is within twenty minutes of London Luton Airport.

The Hospital has been a Foundation Trust for 7 years and was awarded University status in 2012. It has a modern Medical Education Centre and an active Postgraduate Teaching Programme. Excellent facilities for study and training are also available. This post will not contribute towards CCT training and is not recognised by the Postgraduate Dean. You will gain excellent experience in all aspects of routine and emergency medicine. The pattern of work is a full shift including evening theatre cover.

There is a compulsory induction programme which you would be expected to attend, together with the bleep free teaching session which is held on alternate Thursdays afternoon in the department.

The Department consists of 13 Consultants, 2 Associate Specialist, 1 Specialty Doctor, 2 Specialty Training posts at levels 1, 2 and 3, 11 Clinical Fellows (ST3-6 equivalent), 2 Junior Clinical Fellows (FY2 equivalent) and 4 Clinical Fellows (ST1/ST2 equivalent).

The appointment will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check for the successful candidate prior to commencement.
