As an AAT apprentice/trainee you will play a pivotal role in our organisation. You will be providing support to the wider team by assisting with financial activities such as financial reporting, month end accounts as well as VAT returns and Tax computations. 

You will learn on the job but will also receive your professional training via day release at one of our approved training providers.

To give you an insight into the role some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing financial information, reports and returns for a wide range of clients, both businesses and individuals
  • Using computer software to record financial transactions
  • Preparation of personal and company tax computations and regular VAT returns
  • Providing bookkeeping services, including the recording of income and expenditure, matching transactions to bank statements and summarising expenditure types
  • Information gathering to analyse and report information about income and expenditure to support decision making, planning and control
  • Developing and strengthening client relationships, providing a first-class professional service
  • Knowledge, skills and attributes

  • You will need to have (or be predicted) 112 UCAS points with GCSEs (A-C) or (9-4) including Maths and English (obtained or predicted in the same year)
  • You must be comfortable working with figures, accurate and understand the significance of calculations
  • Great written and oral communication skills
  • Computer literate, with an aptitude towards spreadsheets
  • Some work experience in business or an accountancy practice is desirable, but an aptitude to the work is more important
  • Personable, enquiring and willing to ask questions when unsure
  • A sense of fun and a desire to succeed

    This role will follow the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship standards (Level 3) and Professional Accounting Technician Apprenticeship Standards (Level 4) and we will provide you with the necessary support to meet the requirements of the programme.

    You will receive on the job training, plus support for completion of your AAT qualification via day release study at one of our approved training providers.

    Opportunities to later progress and gain further qualifications are available for the right candidates.
