Additional Education Needs Tutor in Surrey

Additional Education Needs Tutor

4 - 40 hours per week

Job description

Core subject KS2 to GCSE freelance tutors for LAC and Young People with SEND required in Swindon and surrounding areas .

There are over 2 million vulnerable children in the UK. 1.6 million of these have no established, recognised form of education support to meet their needs.

We require experienced educators to tutor looked after young people, and those with SEND in the Wiltshire region. This tuition primarily covers the core subjects (English, Maths, and Science), from KS2 through to GCSE. Experience working with young people in care, children in need and/or those with SEND is highly desirable.

The needs of the young person will dictate where tutoring should be carried out - we don't decide this for you. Tuition will normally take place in the home of the young person, with the carer or parent present at all times. The number of hours varies from 1 - 15 hours per week and per student, with no guaranteed minimum number of hours. There is also the possibility to take on multiple students per week, if desired.

Please note, this is not an online only role

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS (we can help obtain this at cost if needed)
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience
  • Two professional references
  • Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS)
  • Targeted Provision was created to ensure that young people who are not receiving the support they need from mainstream education, are catered for. In addition, we take the wellbeing and professional development of our tutors very seriously, as we understand that without great tutors, young people cannot receive the tuition they need.

Working with Targeted Provision through a contract for service means you maintain ownership over how to best structure and deliver your sessions. For clarity, we, nor anyone else, will, or has a right to, control how your work is done, nor can you be moved to alternative service delivery without a new contract. We engage tutors to provide their services using their own professional judgement and qualified practices.

It is strict requirement that you have the ability to work in a way that promotes the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

This position involves tutoring in a self-employed capacity to provide short-term engagements as and when they arise. We do not offer any set amount of work nor expenses coverage and as a self-employed teacher, you will not be covered by our insurance. You will hold your own insurance as befits your own working practices.

Working with Targeted Provision allows you to maintain full control of your own schedule as a self-employed tutor. A new contract will be provided for each new service you provide, we offer you the opportunity for flexible working, and there will be no obligation placed upon you to accept work we offer you.

We understand you are trained professionals and will have the freedom to use your own professional judgement for the delivery of your sessions. We won't engage a tutor if we don't think they are suitably qualified to meet Additional Educational Needs.

We look forward to receiving your CV, outlining your relevant skills and experience that can help make a difference.

Due to the number of applications we receive, we are unable to respond to every applicant. We aim to respond to all successful applicants within two weeks.

We are keen to hear from candidates from all backgrounds. The over 2 million vulnerable children in the UK are disproportionately constituted of the BAME and LGTBQIA+ communities, as well as by people who identify as working class or have done so in the past, people with disabilities, refugees and migrants, and people living with mental health conditions. It is integral to our mission of raising the standard of support for the UK's vulnerable learners that we engage tutors from all backgrounds who share/relate to the experiences of our students.

Interviews are being scheduled on a rolling basis.
