Cloud Operations Engineer - Junior in London

About the role

In the role of Cloud Operations Engineer - Junior you will have an excellent opportunity to learn AWS and infrastructure as code, and be coached on new technologies. You understand that DevOps is not a team but a mindset and have a pragmatic approach to getting stuff done. You focus on continuous improvement, always looking to identify manual, repetitive tasks and collaborating with the team on improvement opportunities. Duties

  • Responding to and resolution of support tickets
  • Installing and configuring Windows and Linux/Unix servers
  • Installing and configuring databases
  • Creating and configuring environments on virtual and cloud platforms
  • Installing and configuring the Gentrack products on multiple platforms
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues (with support) at a network, server, file system, database, and application level
  • Support and maintenance of our in-house development environments
  • Monitor system performance and perform health checks
  • Identifying opportunities to achieve continuous improvement and repeatable processes
  • Regular and ad hoc patching, updates of external and internal systems
  • Maintain and support, ISO, security and business continuity processes
  • Writing data queries for support
  • User administration on internal and external systems
  • Cloud Platform service operation & maintenance
  • Operate and maintain 3rd party software solutions
  • Monitor, Identify and Escalate Security incidents across platforms
  • Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role of minimum 1+ years
  • Operational support skills covering a variety of platforms.
  • Working Knowledge of Agile
  • Time spent working in team environments, particularly self-managing environments
  • Experience installing software packages on multiple platforms.
  • Good knowledge of TCP/IP networks.
  • Understand relational database concepts including users and security
  • Knowledge of best practices regarding security, networking & system management
  • Exposure to SDL and deployment best practices
  • Experience with provisioning and supporting Cloud platforms
  • Desirable criteria

  • Exposure to orchestration & automation tools (Git, BitBucket, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Exposure to containers (Docker, ECS, lxc)
  • Exposure to configuration scripting languages (YAML, JSON, Python)
