What does a Support Worker do?
As a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will enormously contribute to the people we support, living a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life.
Thanks to the ongoing success of the current service, we are looking to expand our team of dedicated support workers in Newhaven who are currently supporting 6 individuals in supported living whom have a learning disability. Ages range from the mid-20’s to early 70’s, this means you will be working with a range of unique and individual personalities with their own experiences to share.
We are currently offering a part-time opportunity . Shifts are rota based and will be spread across morning, afternoons, evenings, including weekends and bank holidays and will include sleep ins.
The people we support in Newhaven see many things as being important to them, this includes supporting them to manage their finances, help with both planning and cooking meals, or with more general support such as going to new places and talking to people. Aside from day to day support, you will also need to support these individuals with their hobbies; be it through clothes shopping, playing on the iPad or going to the seaside – who doesn’t like to be beside the sea?
The people we support have said that you will need to be genuinely nice, informative and proactive in supporting them which would allow you to make a real difference to their lives. The people we support do not like being told what to do but would like a support worker who encourages them to engage in their day to day activities.
