Staff Nurse (HMP Highdown) - COVID-19 in London

Job description

CNWL (Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust) has almost 7,000 staff providing integrated healthcare to a third of London's population, Milton Keynes and areas beyond. We involve service users, carers, the public, staff and partner organisations in the way that we are run.

Our catchment area spans diverse communities, with over 100 first languages spoken. It contains areas of great affluence as well as areas of much deprivation. We are committed to providing services that meet the needs of the people who use them, and we actively encourage involvement from local people who can help make a difference. We’re proud of our diversity and we continue to undertake new initiatives to advance equality for LGBT+, BME and people with disabilities to promote good relations and understanding between our staff.

We are recognised locally, nationally and internationally for providing high quality, innovative healthcare. We aim to employ only the best people, and our experts are frequently called upon to contribute to national health strategy and policy, and many models of our care have been adapted for use in other countries.

We offer a generous relocation package (subject to eligibility assessment) and flexible working options, including bank assignments for most roles. See attached Staff Reward and Wellbeing Handbook detailing our benefits, discounts and wellbeing intiatives for staff.

Become part of our team. We care for you as much as you care for others.

This vacancy will attract the Golden Hello, a welcome incentive of up to £2500. Please see attached document for full terms and conditions.

Are you looking for new challenges? Do you want to work in an ever-changing environment where no two days are the same? Do you want to feel that you really make a difference? Want to provide truly holistic nursing care? Fed up of routine and regular?

Have you answered yes to these questions?

This might be the job for you…

We are looking for Primary Care Nurses to join us as part of the Primary Care team within the prison of HMP High Down.

Primary Care in prison? Yes, this is an opportunity to use all of your clinical and interpersonal skills, an opportunity to develop new skills and work with a unique population group that need your nursing skills.

We work with a range of men who are sentenced, some of whom have been sentenced for life. For some it is the first time in prison, for others it's their twentieth. Every person we work with could be someone’s father, son, husband or brother. Our job is not to judge, our job is to provide exceptional care with kindness and compassion. Our motto? Caring not judging.

Health and well being is one of the pathways to reducing re-offending. It could be through your interactions that changes the way a man thinks about his future, thinks about his health needs, and feels about himself and others. You could make a difference.

This is a varied role working within a Primary Care setting and involves assessing, treating and carrying out effective care planning. It takes a very special, dedicated, resilient and caring nurse to provide care in such an ever changing, dynamic environment and you will be joining like-minded exceptional healthcare professionals.

Working alongside the Mental Health and Substance Misuse team affords us the benefit of being able to work in a truly holistic manner, responding to the needs of both physical and mental well-being in partnership.
