Zero Hours Community Staff Nurse Evenings and Nights - COVID-19 in Derby

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the DHU Community Nursing Team. This role involves visiting patients across South Derbyshire from our base at Johnson Building, Derby or Ashgate Manor in Chesterfield for the Out Of Hours Community Nursing Service. The post is varied and offers the successful applicant the opportunity to develop skills working with a diverse client group, in the Derbyshire locality. The post holder will be expected to visit patients in their own homes and carry out a variety of Community Nursing tasks. Experience in palliative care is essential, as this forms a large part of the nursing caseload. There is no lone working in this role as our Staff Nurses always work alongside a Health Care Assistant. We have teams based at the Johnson Building in Derby, Ashgate Manor in Chesterfield, the Whitworth Hospital in Matlock and the Cavendish Hospital in Buxton. The various teams travel widely across the whole of the county in a fully equipped company vehicle. A full driving licence is essential.

We are recruiting for both evenings and nights, but we are particularly interested in candidates who are interested in working overnight shifts.

Essential criteria include the following:

  • Registered as a General Nurse with the NMC
  • Experience of nursing in a community setting
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and experience of palliative care
  • Organisational skills with an ability to manage shifting priorities
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Flexibility and a commitment to this role and the team
  • Full driving licence essential
