We are passionate about the quality of care we offer to our patients with respiratory disease. Our team is growing, and we are now able to offer an exciting opportunity for a band 7 Respiratory Nurse to join our integrated nursing team at the University hospital Lewisham site. This is a role that requires a real passion for respiratory nursing as well as experience in caring for patients with COPD and asthma within the hospital, outpatient clinic and community setting.

The post holder will be part of an innovative new service which provides respiratory care across the community and in secondary care in Lewisham, ensuring the patient pathway is seamless from diagnosis to acute management and supporting with the follow up of our long COVID patients in clinics.

Working with a team of experienced clinicians led by a nurse consultant, the post holder will assess, diagnose and manage respiratory patients in a variety of settings, including inpatient wards, outpatient and community clinics, residential homes and in patient’s own homes.

The team manage the home oxygen service and will be supporting complex and vulnerable patients post admission. This new role will be essential in supporting these patients.

The applicant will be an independent prescriber or be prepared to undertake this course. They will also have completed or be prepared to undertake an advanced skills assessment course.

The post holder will support nursing and medical colleagues in training and education, as well as deputising for the nurse consultant in management and leadership roles. They will also support our pulmonary rehabilitation team and breathe easy group.
