About the role

As Head of Online Trading and Activation, you will have the unique opportunity of leading activation, merchandising and promotion activities for the online channel. Working closely with both the commercial and digital teams, this role has overall responsibility for delivering sales and profit in line with business plan targets, as well as seamlessly delivering an aligned campaign and promotional plan supporting key strategic initiatives. As well as delivering against commercial metrics this role will also focus on the customer and optimising their online journey – using data and analytics to drive conversion and profitable basket spend.

The Head of Online Trading & Activation is a highly visible role within the Pets at Home group, requiring engagement across multiple teams and stakeholders. Motivating, inspiring and leading diverse teams will play a key part of this role.

Key responsibilities (will include, but not limited to):

• Managing the activation team responsible for landing key marketing campaigns seamlessly via the online channel
• Managing the merchandising team, responsible for uploading product content and online imagery
• Managing the online promotions team, responsible for ensuring accessibility to our promotions for our customers
• Optimisation of the customer online experience, through data, analytics, conversion and a continuous improvement approach
• Ensuring all online campaign activation activity is delivered in line with business strategy
• Overseeing online product launch and management, working collaboratively across the business to ensure high standards are maintained
• Managing sales and margin targets and supplier spend

About your experience

This role would suit an individual who can demonstrate significant online and commercial trading experience, coupled with a proven track record of leading large teams. Your skillset will be multi-disciplinary, with a broad understanding of online activation and merchandising, alongside being able to offer a product and campaign focus too.

This is a highly commercial role, requiring a creative individual who can identify commercial opportunities and react quickly to deliver results. Your analytical strengths will contribute to the success of this role, being able to confidently use data to drive insight and make decisions.

You will thrive within a role requiring collaboration, communication and leadership across many different teams, placing a focus on mentoring and coaching team members to develop both their performance and their careers.

Experience within a fast moving retail environment is required alongside digital experience.
