We are looking for two highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialists in Infection Prevention & Control to join our experienced and dynamic Team at the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust

The posts are being advertised as fixed term 1 year posts which will then be reviewed to facilitate a move to seven day working for the Infection Prevention and Control Team.

You will be a registered nurse with at least 5 years post registration experience, and have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Infection Prevention job where you have demonstrated developed skills and expertise working in this specialist role. You must be able to show evidence of post registration professional education at degree level or above and have undertaken specialist training to at least diploma / degree level in Infection Control.

The positions will involve providing strong leadership to support both the national and local infection prevention agenda, whilst acting as a resource and role model for evidence–based practice.

Teaching is an essential part of this role so you must have experience of teaching within an infection control education programme, be able to work with minimal supervision as an autonomous practitioner and make timely judgments and prompt decisions as required on matters relating to Infection Control under direction of the site matrons.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, together with the ability to work as part of a specialist team will be vital to the role. A positive approach, the ability to be flexible and the skills to prioritise your workload are also necessary requirements. You should be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office and its applications, as well as having a willingness to learn new systems used by the team.

The role will be varied and include: delivering the Infection Prevention annual programme, staff education and updates, promoting best practice in respect to infection prevention, writing and auditing key policies, providing specialist advice and guidance for staff and patients, surveillance of infections to include outbreak detection and management.
