Specialist Nurse - MS Service - COVID-19 in Oxford

Job description

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use Value Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significant difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

The Multiple Sclerosis Service is an expanding and complex service, and with the developments in treatments for Multiple Sclerosis it is an exciting time to be involved in the further development of the service. If you are motivated and driven to provide high quality evidence based patient centred care and want to be involved in taking practice forward, we would love you to join our team.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our well established service. As a specialist nurse you will be responsible for the delivery of high quality specialist care and support to patients with Multiple Sclerosis. Clinical responsibilities will include undertaking nurse-led clinics to support symptom management, and the co-ordination of treatment pathways for patients receiving disease modifying therapy. The role will also involve delivering education programmes for patients and health care professionals and to act as an expert resource for patients and their families and allied health care professionals.

The successful candidate will preferably have experience in neurology, ideally in Multiple Sclerosis. However we will consider applications from exceptional candidates whom have a minimum of 3 years experience of managing patients with complex long term conditions who are currently working autonomously in a case management / nurse specialist role and are interested in moving into a new specialist field. You will be passionate about delivering holistic patient centered care to our patients and their families and will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team..
