Reporting to: Academic Director

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000

Hours: 40 hours per week

UKCBC is a leading Education provider in the alternative education provider segment with 4 Campuses around London. We are seeking to appoint a Personal Tutor to undertake a varied range of academic administrative duties to support the students and teaching staff in the overall delivery of the academic programmes.

The Applicant is to provide support, pastoral care to students, dealing with student queries regarding Moodle and VLE and monitor student progression, retention and engagement. This role will also involve supporting the lecturers by occasionally teaching, covering lecturer’s absences or supervising students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To identify the progressive learners and encourage them towards completing the course within agreed deadlines.
  • To provide one to one personal tutorials as well as group support and revision sessions for various modules.
  • Support and monitor the learners with the assignment submission process, resolve e-learning access related issues if any.
  • Continuously track, monitor and support student learning and progress and ensure KPIs are achieved.
  • Provide additional tutoring on difficult topics, coordinate appointments with subject tutors to enable learners clarify their gaps in learning, understanding concepts.
  • To monitor student assignment submissions and coordinate with unit lecturers.
  • To provide formative feedback on assignments, take up assessment responsibilities for grading summative assignments, internally verify assessments where appropriate.
  • To assist the Academic Support Manager and Academic Team in review of various online resources on the VLE, upload and update learning resources for the programmes being delivered.
  • Supporting the academic administration department in various functions related to student support, information, advice and guidance, record keeping, certifications etc.
  • To coordinate administration of various student surveys, collating and analysing student feedback.
  • Be a liaison between Academic Staff and Students where needed for assignment and support services, provide advice on academic regulations and procedures in the context of qualifications being pursued by students across campuses.
  • To support the Lecturing team in the covering sessions where needed.
  • Additional responsibilities according to the business needs as assigned by the line manager and senior management team.

Criteria:

The ideal applicant will have:

  • A Master’s Degree or equivalent
  • Experience working in the Education sector
  • Working with E-Learning platforms such as Moodle, VLEs
  • A proven track of working in a busy team and building beneficial working relationships across teams
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to details and ability to work with a high level of accuracy
  • Personable and able to build rapport easily with students and staff
  • Ability to deal confidently and sensitively with students and team members
  • IT literate, with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Word

Experience beneficial (but not required)

  • Diploma or Certificate in multimedia/e-learning / PGCHE
  • Experience of teaching, supporting and assessing
  • Experience in co-ordinating and supporting a variety of different levels
