Huawei Technologies is offering high calibre PhD students the exclusive Graduate and Internship opportunities to gain a valuable experience in its Edinburgh Research Centre.


Job Summary

Knowledge Graphs are used today in many real-world industrial applications like Web-search engines, drug-discovery, natural language understanding, recommendation systems, conversational AI, and more. Huawei is investigating ways by which Knowledge Graphs can power its next generation products and help provide added value to end-users. The two key problems related to Knowledge Graphs consist of constructing high quality knowledge graphs in a scalable manner as well as using their rich structure to perform various reasoning tasks like semantic search, question answering, and more. The project involves research and development on various problems related to Knowledge Graphs including but not limited to: information extraction, natural language understanding, semantic search (information retrieval), question answering, dialogue-systems, reasoning and more. The default goal of an internship is a paper on novel research submitted to a top-tier conference. Candidates would have the opportunity to gain experience in many different AI technologies like NLP, ML, KR, Semantic Web, and more.


Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD degree program in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Good coding skill with emphasis on clean, reusable, tested, well-documented code and experience with one of java, scala, or Python.
  • Knowledge of at least two of the following fields is REQUIRED:
  1. Semantic Web technologies (RDF, SPARQL, OWL, SKOS)
  2. Natural Language Processing (parsing, entity detection, question answering, etc.)
  3. Machine Learning / Deep Learning (LSTM, transformer, etc.).
  • Knowledge Graphs (DBpedia, Wikidata), and their use in Applications.
  • Track record of existing research publications.
  • Ability to communicate technical solutions effectively and produce high quality technical documentations.

We Wish You are

  • A current PhD student or candidate study in Computing Science or related programmes;
  • Have a good academic background and programming skills, published papers on top conferences or journals in the related fields (Preferred but not essential)
