We have 190+ locations across our retail, manufacturing and distribution sites, employing c 1800 colleagues. In our Logistics team, we have 5 Distribution Centres across the UK. Under new ownership of Alteri Investors we have an ambitious 3-year plan to grow the business further and achieve our mission of becoming the market leading bed retailer with a strong omnichannel presence.

The Role

As a Bensons for Beds Service Delivery Driver you wont 'just' be driving. You will be an extension of our Customer Service team, meeting customers face to face and being an ambassador for the brand, doing your best to ensure the customer has a fantastic experience on each house visit. As part of a 2 person team, you'll be delivering our beds and bedroom furniture to our customers from the location listed above which is one of our 5 distribution centres located in Dagenham, Accrington, Tewksbury, Huntingdon and Ayr.  

Your key responsibilities as a Service Delivery Driver will include:

  • Complete your deliveries on time, to schedule and most importantly ensuring your customers are left happy.
  • Be friendly and helpful throughout.
  • Keep your customer informed by calling ahead.
  • Deliver and assemble furniture .
  • Support an environment and culture within Bensons for Beds where the Customer is firmly at the centre of everything that we do.
  • Monitor the vehicle for roadworthiness and report any defects.
  • Ensuring you remain professional and your uniform and boots are clean and presentable and that you make a great first impression to our customers when you arrive.

It should be noted that due to our products being large and bulky items of furniture, you should be able to lift items of varying weights as part of a 2-person team.

The skills you need

To be successful in this role we require you to have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • A valid UK driving licence Cat C1.
  • Valid driver’s CPC DQ card / valid drivers digital card
  • Previous commercial driving experience in a 7.5t vehicle
  • Previous experience and understanding of using digital tachographs
  • Ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy items of furniture with manual handling experience
  • Understanding of EU Driving legislation and tachograph law
  • Desirable experience of using a PDA
  • Preferable experience of doing 'home' deliveries
  • Able to work well with others, having good communication skills and work as part of a team
  • Organised and able to manage your workload and associated paperwork
  • Keen to learn about our products and be able to  explain product information and answer any customer questions on site
