About the role

We have an opportunity for a Senior Buyer to join us on a 12 month fixed term contract.

As a Senior Buyer, you’ll have full responsibility for sales and margin targets for one of our largest retail sales categories. You’ll be the lead contact for supplier relationships, negotiating and agreeing annual trading terms in line with targets.

This is a challenging role, you’ll be working at pace and ensuring that all voices are listened to and considered. You’ll need to be able to balance the priorities of your stakeholders and suppliers.

But you’ll be joining a supportive team and get a unique insight into how things work across functions. It’s an exciting opportunity that will really empower you.

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

• Developing and implementing a customer facing range strategy that incorporates current market trends and differentiates Pets at Home from its competitors
• Developing and introducing exciting and innovative new products, including own brand
• Developing effective and productive working relationships with cross functional teams such as Supply, Merchandising and Marketing
• Working with both domestic and global suppliers (Europe and Far East) to develop ranges in order to drive sales and profit growth
• Working closely with our CRM loyalty team to gain insights and make customer driven decisions to help drive category growth
• Deputising for Head of Trading
• Management of a Buying Assistant and/or another Buyer

About your experience

You’ll have extensive experience as a Senior Buyer within a FMCG environment. Analysis is a key part of the role and so you’ll have a track record of conducting your own commercial analysis.

The role would suit someone who has a blend of both digital and store experience and wants to work as part of a team.

Other key experience/skills includes;

• A demonstrable knowledge of managing established branded goods
• A proven record in negotiating annual supplier trading terms that help maximise supplier income
• An ability to communicate effectively at all levels within and outside the organisation
• A keen attention to detail
• A desire to learn from others and engage help across the business
