Senco - Part-time in Ashford

Job description

Pay: MPS/UPS Start Date: September 2021 An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated SENCO to join our Senior Leadership Team, with a passion for working with vulnerable children to ensure they receive the education they deserve. You will bring an innovative and creative approach to supporting the strategic direction and development of SEN provision across our school, whilst effectively managing and developing the progress and achievement of our pupils. Our current SENCO works across two schools in our collaboration, therefore we are keeping an open mind about how this role will be filled and are exploring different options. Options being considered are: • 1.5/2 Days per week at High Halden CEP or • 1.5/2 Days per week at High Halden CEP School and 2 days a week at Woodchurch CE Primary School The role could range from 1.5-4 days per week, depending on the candidate and which option is preferred. Please indicate your preferred options during the informal discussion/tour and on the application form. The successful candidate will have • An awareness of how young children learn best and can skillfully use the children's interests to plan their next steps • The National Award for SEN Co-ordination or be working towards it • Experience of working with children with Special Needs • Thorough knowledge of the new SEND Code of Practice • The ability to lead staff in developing their knowledge and expertise in working with SEN children • Experience of working with pupils with a range of different abilities and needs – SEND, Pupil Premium, EAL, GRT. • The ability to support and line manage our team of support staff • Strong communication skills and an ability to work within a team • Good management and organisational skills • The necessary communication skills enabling liaison with a variety of external agencies • Experience or willingness to undertake a DSL role alongside other members of our SLT. Ideally, we would like the successful candidate to start in September 2021 or as soon as possible after that date (by January 2022 at the latest).
