The role will include the following:

  • To work with Senior Setters and learn all aspects of tool changing in the Injection Moulding Department.
  • To learn all aspects of the injection moulding machines i.e., mechanical, electrical, or fluid power.
  • To work with the maintenance department to prevent, diagnose and correct any machine breakdowns.
  • To ensure that all tool changes are carried out safely and within Health and Safety guidelines.
  • To learn all aspects of process control and process setting. To enable the Injection Moulding Department to produce product that complies with companies quality standards.
  • To work with the Process Engineer and Production Supervisor to reduce machine downtime within the guideline outlined by SMED.
  • When fully trained, be responsible for the quality of product produced via the Injection Moulding process. As part of this responsibility, regular quality checks are required on each machine.
  • To ensure that the Production Schedule is followed, and that "Barco" (production monitoring system) is updated as required.
  • To ensure the Injection Moulding machines and the surrounding area are maintained in a clean and tidy condition at all times, especially after tool changing.
  • To ensure that the Injection Moulding machines are restarted after tool and Insert changes with minimal scrap and downtime incurred.
  • To work with the shift Supervisor, Process Engineer and QC department, to monitor and adjust the process parameters to ensure that the required quality standards are maintained.
  • To ensure that any machine "faults" (electrical or mechanical) are reported to the Supervisor immediately.
  • To comply with all the requests of your Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the department. This may include flexible working as required.

Hours of work: 1st & 2nd year 7am-3pm, then after rotating weekly shifts of 7am-3pm & 3pm-11pm.
