Our client has an excellent opportunity for a bright, resourceful and organised Trainee Health & Safety Officer to join their Greenwich Newstrade team. Our clients team play an important role in supporting our business to deliver world-class service and time-critical newspapers & magazines to their 7,200+ retail customers across the South East of England.

Health & safety will be important, of course, as will things like preparing data, presenting health & safety updates, supporting colleagues and developing their heath & safety processes. But truly great stakeholder management will be your main aim. Happy to help, highly visible, eager to learn and just a little bit obsessed with keeping our team safe and well.

You’ll need to be friendly and outgoing, and you get a buzz from helping others. You’ll be happy to expand your skills by using new technology and learning new ways of embedding their health & safety policies.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide all employees with health and safety training and induction training, co-ordinate, monitor and ensure risk assessments and safe systems of work are regularly reviewed and update
  • Develop and always maintains a professional working relationship with employees at all levels and promote exceptional standards
  • Promote and raise Health, Safety awareness and culture across all locations
  • Provide support and advice to all locations as required on all health and safety related issues
  • Carry out accident investigations and produce reports which identify causes and actions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Analyse all accident data to identify trends and introduce safe controls where appropriate. Develop and maintain health and safety audits
  • Review/Produce risk assessments and all other Health and Safety documentation as necessary
  • Organise and attend Health and Safety committee meetings within business units

WHAT YOU NEED

  1. Some educational and/or hand’s on Health & Safety experience
  2. Interest in working towards your NEBOSH qualification or equivalent
  3. Keenness to learn relevant Health & Safety laws
  4. An ability to handle responsibility and keep calm under pressure
  5. Able to research, understand, relay and implement regulatory information, verbally and written to internal and external sources.
  6. Able to use Microsoft, Excel & MS Word
