We’ve got a fantastic job for a Technical Manager, Local Solutions to join our Head Office in Bradford.
Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager, you will be responsible for providing technical advice and support at the heart of the Local Solutions trading initiative so that business and commercial improvements are delivered. This role is responsible for delivery of the safety, legality, quality and integrity of Morrisons locally sourced products, ensuring customer’s health is always protected and prosecution is avoided.
Last year we launched our ‘4 day week’. The working pattern for this role is 4 days per week of 9 hours per day, based in our Bradford Head Office.
There is also a requirement to work 1 in 4 Saturdays, or 13 per year (for 6 hours) in Head Office.
Manage the technical risk assessment, audit, selection & on boarding process to authorise new local suppliers including ensuring registration with local authorities & confirming approval status to new suppliers.
Risk Assessment & launch support of all new local products ensuring NPD is delivered safely, legally & right first time.
Maintain due diligence through a routine audit programme for high risk local suppliers & verify that any necessary corrective action plans are implemented by suppliers in a timely manner.
Maintain the delivery of quality measurement of local products including supporting store processes and consult with trading teams to ensure that customer’s quality expectations are delivered.
Investigate, risk assess and manage any food safety incidents relating to locally sourced products -instigating the product withdrawal and recall processes and support branded product incidents. All issues should be closed with robust corrective actions.
Where required, ensure that there is a formally agreed product specification in place for relevant products to ensure they are safe, legal and fit for intended purpose.
Develop and issue clear and concise technical standards, policies, procedures and communications for your key stakeholders.
Review integrity risks, monitoring performance of suppliers against key KPI’s as appropriate and work with trading teams to ensure we are working with the right suppliers and manufacturing sites.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge:
Science Degree or equivalent
Postgraduate experience in relevant industry including working with suppliers
Control of supplier approval through audit - formal audit qualification desirable & extensive auditing experience in a variety of product areas.
Ability to manage projects to safeguard / reduce risk to the business(brand risk, customer safety) and lead initiatives.
Knowledge of of Retail operations desirable
Ability to identify risk and manage to an acceptable level (brand risk, customer safety)
Checking product quality to uphold customer expectations
Tenacity to follow up and resolve issues
Customer focussed with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude
