Manufacturing Operative (Production) - Colne in Bradford

About The Role

We are recruiting for Manufacturing Operatives for at our Abattoir/Meat Processing site in Colne Manufacturing

We’re the only major UK supermarket with our own abattoir and meat processing sites. So, where better to develop your skills and grow your career while also doing your bit by feeding the nation?

Reporting into a Team Manager you will:

• Use trained skills to complete all tasks to ensure that quality products are produced for customers

• Complete duties requiring such as moving and bagging product, making boxes, stacking trays, lining dolavs, wrapping meat, strapping and stacking boxes up to a weight of 25kg and maximum height of 1.7m

• Use department equipment such as strapping machine to pack product in line with training

• Complete all tasks efficiently in order to reduce waste, reporting all issues if they arise

• Handle and package products in accordance with all relevant Food Safety standards

• Comply with company policy including Health and Safety, Security, Hygiene standards and cleaning schedules

• Work flexibly and as part of a team to support all areas of the business

You will be someone who:

• Can work in a fast paced environment and isn't afraid of a little hard work

• Loves to work as part of a team

• Has the ability to maintain concentration throughout shift where tasks are repetitive

• Can work in a chilled production environment with varying temperatures between 2 and 9 degrees

• Has the ability to perform a variety of physical tasks such as lifting, bending, walking, pushing, pulling and stretching throughout a shift of typically 8-10 hours in length

• Is physically able to lift up to a weight of 25kg up to maximum height of 1.7m

• Please note: this is an Abattoir / Slaughterhouse environment.

There are plenty of ways to develop your career at  Colne Manufacturing. On our Level 2 Butchery Apprenticeship you’ll develop your knife skills, so you can maximise cuts and minimise waste. Once you’ve mastered Butchery, there are even more opportunities to progress further if you want to.

You could become a Line Leader and then enroll onto our Pathway to Team Manager scheme if a career working in Operations appeals to you. Or, you could take all of your production knowledge and side-step into an area like Quality Control, Product Development or Production Scheduling - The opportunities are endless!
