The Role

Do you want to make a difference by defining and building our Business Intelligence solution that goes along with our next-generation data processing and analytics platform in the cloud in a greenfield environment? Holland and Barrett is a successful business focusing on making people healthier and happier. You will join the Data and Analytics teams in London, reporting to Principal BI Developer/Analyst. You will work closely with Data Engineers, Data Scientists and business stakeholder to deliver Business Intelligence to guide our tactical and strategic decisions with actionable insight on all organisational levels. In short, democratise insight, providing trusted information in a form that is easy to consume and explore. This is a greenfield opportunity with minimal legacy systems. We recently started building a cloud-based Data Platform with cutting-edge technology, BI and Data Science built-in from the start. Your role is to implement the Business Intelligence part of this platform. This includes the incremental delivery of value, e.g. via reports and dashboard, and as well as helping the business with self-service BI capabilities where possible.

You have extensive hands-on experience in solving real-world problems with BI. You have been involved in the planning and delivery of large-scale BI solutions and done so in an agile, iterative approach. Your experience covers multiple technologies and use-cases. You have experience in both the analytics, reporting and user interface aspect on the one side and the data processing and data management on the other. You can be pragmatic when something needs to be delivered quickly yet strategic when possible building towards a stable, reliable platform avoiding long-term technical debt. You love working closely with business stakeholders, data engineers and others in cross-functional teams to develop solutions iteratively.

 

 

The Person

Technical Skills:


• Bachelor's degree ideally in computer science or relevant analytical subject or experience in
a comparable role
• 1+ years within an analytical role
• Demonstrable commercial and business intelligence experience
• Essential skills
o Solid experience in Business Analyst - Data Models, System Analysis, Star Schema,
Business Intelligence (BI), Kimball
o Very good hands-on experience working with one of the following BI tools Tableau,
PowerBI, Looker
o Numerical and general analytics mindset
o SQL
o Good communication skills (both written and verbal)
o Creative problem solving
• Beneficial skills
o Cloud, preferably AWS
o Distributed computing
o Retail market experience
o Experience with cloud computing environments, e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP
o Experience with modern data backends like Athena, SparkSQL, Snowflake
o Experience in marketing effectiveness modelling preferable


We offer a flexible, home-based working model. We have offices in Nuneaton and London, but you
will not be required to be office-based
