Job description

About The Role

Morrisons’ Technology team is an exciting place to be, we’re changing and optimising the way we deliver technology. As a Product Manager within a domain-focused team you’ll work alongside the business to make technologies that are better for our customers, simpler for our colleagues and improve performance for the business as a whole.

Being faster to market is one of our key drivers for change and we’re focused on using industry best practices to create an agile working environment. Our delivery strategy is focused on creating product-focused teams that can respond to an ever changing industry. New ideas are always welcome, and combining this with our scale makes working here challenging but rewarding, as you’ll be able to make a difference for millions of customers.

Working across the business, but focusing on end to end Store Retail services, as Product Manager you’ll be responsible for:

Strategy and Roadmap

  • The strategy, vision and roadmaps to evolve the product as required by the business.

  • Release planning of new features and changes to the product.

  • Working with the architecture teams to innovate and develop new features at pace.

Development

  • Managing new development requests, from initial estimations to delivering ROI.

  • Curating user stories to ensure the quality of delivery fits with the strategy and vision.

  • Owning and defining the technology functional and nonfunctional requirements.

  • Driving continual service improvement of the product.

Service and support

  • Maintaining good relationships with suppliers. Ensuring new work is delivered on time and service KPIs are met.

  • Maintaining a stable product and ensuring we’re prepared and can respond quickly when failures occur.

  • Operational testing to ensure changes do not impact stability.

  • Using ITIL principles to ensure stability and continuous improvements.

About You

You’ll ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience of designing and delivering solutions that meet your customer requirements yet fit with a wider business vision.

  • An independent worker that can proactively drive your own agenda in a complex organisation.

  • Excellent influencing skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels.

  • Comfortable facilitating cross-functional working groups to model business scenarios and operational business processes, to understand the challenges and opportunities within large and complex change initiatives.

  • Working with Solution Architects and Software vendors, to understand system capability and constraints, to come up with innovative ways to face business challenges, and translate into prioritised action plans.

  • Knowledge generation and sharing with tools such as Confluence.

  • Agile requirements management with tools such as Jira.

We pride ourselves on being a diverse and inclusive business and are committed to making Morrisons a brilliant place to work, harbouring an environment where our people can thrive.

New Ways of Working

The wellbeing of our colleagues is really important to us and we want everyone to have a great home and work life balance. Because of this we've introduced a four day working week for all full time colleagues based at our head office in Bradford.

You’ll be able to flex your working hours around the core hours of 10am-4pm, and can choose to do different hours each day as long as you’re covering these core hours. Each four day week will contain four average nine hour days.

To be more competitive and support our stores and sites more effectively, we now work over a six day operation, Monday to Saturday inclusive, and everyone in our head office now works one Saturday in every four (or 13 a year), albeit Saturday will be a shorter working day of 6 hours.

Your non-working day will need to fit in with the business needs so more information about this and which day you'd take off will be discussed at your interview.
