About The Role

We have a great opening within our dedicated Corporate Services department.


The Ethical Trading Specialist will provide expert advice, guidance and support to ensure that human rights risks in our business and supply chain are identified and mitigated through effective delivery of the Morrisons Ethical Trading Policy. 


The Specialist will work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver a strategy to meet objectives, drive improvements and monitor/report progress. 


Providing dedicated advice and guidance to Suppliers, Technical Managers and Commercial colleagues, enabling them to support ethical trading and sustainable sourcing initiatives. 


Also representing Morrisons on relevant external working groups, ensuring our strategy & direction is consistent with sector best practice.


This is a full-time, permanent position which benefits from our recently launched ‘4 day working week’. Colleagues work an average of 9 hours per day and 13 Saturdays per year at 6 hours.


Other responsibilities will include:

    

Staying up to date with ethical trading trends and emerging human rights issues to support & influence the development of Morrisons’ ethical trading strategy.

    

Involvement on behalf of Morrisons in ethical trading external programmes and networks, as agreed with the Ethical Trading Manager.

       

Developing and delivering colleague and supplier training resources and activities covering Morrisons ethical trading requirements and emerging risks, issues and trends. 

    

Influencing and managing internal stakeholders to achieve the common goal of improving human rights in the Morrisons business and supply chain.    


Administering our internal Human Rights Working Group which brings together colleagues from across the business to drive a progressive human rights agenda.


Supporting the Ethical Trading Manager with the completion of internal and external reporting requirements, including our Modern Slavery Statement and Sustainability Report. 

    

Contributing to country level risk guidance to support a human rights due diligence approach to risk mitigation in source countries. 

    

Working with relevant regulatory bodies, NGOs and multi-stakeholder initiatives to maintain and enhance Morrisons approach to tackling modern slavery in our business and supply chains. 


About You
So that you are set for success, we are looking for a self-starter, who is an exceptional communicator with the ability to influence at all levels. You will work as part of a versatile team with a can-do culture, so it’s important that you are tenacious and committed to providing an outstanding service. You will also have:


Knowledge/experience of managing ethical and human rights issues in the supply chain 

    

Working knowledge of the Sedex platform for managing supply chain compliance  

    

Strong networking, influencing and communication skills   

    

Excellent data analysis skills with keen attention to detail   

    

Experience of working in an ethical trading or responsible sourcing role, ideally within the FMCG sector     

    

Experience of adding value to a business by providing objective ethical trading expertise to influence decision making 

    

Working with and influencing NGOs and external bodies - prior experience of working with the Ethical Trading Initiative is preferable.   

    

Experience in compliance with the UK Modern Slavery Act
