Part-time Creative Advisor for the next big social app - Remote Position

We're currently in stealth mode making final preparations to our app ahead of our first public app store release. Starting October 1st, we will be running an invite-only pilot scheme at selected universities made up of 15 of the most talented change-seekers from across the UK. This is a paid opportunity to join our Creative Advisor Programme as one of its founding members and take part in the pilot.

7 - 8 hours per week
£500 Per Month

What are you going to do:

You'll be fully remote with a very flexible and relaxed working environment that fits around your schedule, working no more than 8 hours per week. Once you've been successfully onboarded to the company, below are some of the things you'll get to work on as a Creative Advisor.

Your mission is simple: help us to take Picnic to the next level ahead of our public launch in early 2022. You'll be test driving the app with your favourite groups and helping us to shape our strategy and roadmap from the ground up. This first pilot will be a 3 month co-creation sprint - working closely with our founding team at HQ to develop the first version of our top secret new interactive group chat content format.

  • Test drive the app with your friends Kick the tyres, hunt for bugs, tell us what's missing and what you'd like to see next. Your feedback will directly impact our roadmap.
  • Produce epic content Celebrate what makes your favourite group chats special and show off your creativity in monthly content competitions.
  • Co-create exciting new product features You know your communities better than anyone, so you'll be given creative freedom to pitch big ideas and bring them to life with the help of HQ.
  • Shape our brand Help us define our brand - everything from giving us feedback on the visual identity and our messaging to designing cool branded merch for our community.
  • Begin seeding Picnic at your university Carry Picnic's core mission and values wherever you go and build hype ahead of our wider public release.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for the most talented creatives and change-seekers across the country to join our first ever Creative Advisor Programme. We understand that everyone brings something different to the table and are looking to build a diverse panel that is reflective of the full spectrum of student life in the UK. Below are some of the traits we're looking for, but naturally we don't expect you to tick all of these boxes so don't let this list hold you back from applying.

What we offer:

  • Flexible, competitive pay. Earn £500 per month, plus cash bonuses and prizes for task winners.
  • Get creative, have fun and make an impact! Getting paid to mess around with friends on a new group chat app? There is no other part time opportunity quite like it
  • Help shape a brighter future for social media. Be part of the first ever social app that is also a B Corp and help us put user wellbeing back at the heart of technology.
  • Grow your network. Work with other creative advisor and influencers from across the country to bring ideas to life, cultivating relationships and connecting with like-minded hustlers in the process.
  • Bonus: A seat on our Advisory Board (with equity!). The star performer of this cohort will be offered a seat on our advisory board alongside people like Professor Dunbar and Snapchat's 3rd Employee, as well as Options (shares) in Picnic.

What we ask:

  • You should be registered as a university student
  • Leaders you're a bold, go-getter who influences those around you and makes things happen.
  • Trendsetters not only do you spot the latest trends but you also set them. You know your university and internet culture inside out.
  • Connectors you love making new friends and building relationships. You're hypersocial and know all the key players at your university.
  • Creators you're a creative at heart and are passionate about self expression, always experimenting with new formats and ideas.
  • Believers you're passionate about Picnic's mission and vision and you're excited about helping us shape our strategy and roadmap

How to apply

Please send us a piece of content that tells us why you'd make a great creative advisor. This can be any type of content you like — a Tiktok video, poster, instagram post, Snapchat story. You don't need to submit a cover letter — instead, just send us a WeTransfer link to the piece of content.

Deadline

Deadline for applications: 23:59 Sunday 19th September

We strongly encourage women, people of color, individuals with disabilities, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and non-binary people to apply. Extra information

Our Mission

At Picnic, we understand how important friendships are; they make our lives happier, our bodies and minds healthier, and our decisions better (at least most of the time!). Our friends are in fact the single most important contributing factor to our overall happiness and health.

Over the last decade though, the social apps that we rely on to support these relationships on a daily basis have neglected that fact. Depression among social media's heaviest users is up three-fold while Gen Z are the loneliest generation in history.

Picnic is a next-generation social app built with your wellbeing embedded in our DNA. Backed by science and the researcher who discovered Dunbar's number, we're changing the way friends connect and share online for the better and we're starting with group chats.

Our Product

Picnic is a space for groups of friends to hang out, chat and create lasting memories.

Go wild with our expanded creative canvas for chat.
Loaded with tons more ways to interact with each other than regular chat apps. On Picnic you can react with GIFs, 100's of emojis, or a witty #hashtag - not to mention give each other nicknames.

Capture the best bits with Tagging. Much more than just a hashtag, Tagging on Picnic is an all-purpose chat superpower. Tagging a message turns it into a building block that your group can use later to create a story. Tagboards give groups a shared space for memories, organised by theme so you never have to hunt for them again.

Craft epic stories from your chat history. A far cry from the chore of extracting memories from your bog-standard shared media library, Picnic empowers the storyteller within through a new interactive content format. Think of it like a multi-player game where you get to star in your own adventures.

Picnic is still in private Beta - so it's not yet available on the app store.
