2021 NCS Autumn Programme NCS (National Citizen Service) is a government-backed initiative with a mission to equip 15-17 year olds with the confidence, skills and support they need to make a real difference in their communities. The aim is to encourage young people from different backgrounds to mix through a local, community-based programme.

About the role 

Come and work for Twin, a delivery partner of NCS, as a Wave Leader and play an integral part in the organisation and implementation of the National Citizen Service (NCS) ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the programme and manage seasonal staff; maintain proper levels of young people safety, discipline and welfare.  

You will be required to represent NCS goals and values effectively and be a point of contact and support for programme and core staff as well as other outside partnering charities/stakeholders, this includes being the contact between activity and progress on the wave.

You will be expected to act as a role model, encouraging young people to develop inclusive and positive behaviour towards others.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, lead and inspire 32+ young people and a staff team of 4+ ensuring appropriate and effective programme activity is undertaken  
  • Build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders (venue reps, community partners and parents) for example confirming taxis for any YPs with additional needs  
  • Manage sensitive data relating to staff, young people and their families   
  • Establish rapport and build supportive relationships with your staff and young people 
  • Lead by example and ensure all policies and procedures are followed, including but not exclusive to COVID-19, Safeguarding, GDPR and Health and Safety 
  • Take charge in case of an emergency and inform HQ immediately about any serious incidents and complete Incident Reports  
  • Adapt and facilitate appropriate inclusive programme activity 
  • Be a positive representative for the NCS programme 
  • Ensure all delivery is of a high standard, observing and reporting these standards 
  • Undertake all programme administration duties and liaise with all Twin departments as necessary  
  • Attend / complete all required training  
  • Any other duties as required by the role

  • A clean driving license and access to a vehicle (Dorset Only) 

Desirable

  • Previous experience of NCS provision
  • Experience and/or knowledge of online delivery 

This role is perfect for an experienced professional with a background in the education or youth work sector.
