Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (the UHB) is a Smoke Free Health Board. Smoking is banned across all of the UHB sites. Staff are therefore not able to smoke in the hospital grounds or on any other UHB premises.

A6 South is a 19 bedded unit that cares for Acute Trauma patients from across Wales, often with complex needs and a variety of fractures. If a fast paced, acute trauma setting interests you we want to hear from you.

We are a friendly team, open to change and new ideas. We offer a proactive learning environment, with the opportunity to study a variety of modules, along with in-service training opportunities.

How we will Support and Help you Progress!

When you join you will have a pathway tailored to your needs and wishes. You will be given four weeks of designated supernumerary status, allowing you the time to settle in to your new role. You will have named practice assessors and supervisors who will work with you to guide and help you achieve your goals. The NMPP will ensure you have the study days required to equip you with the specific clinical skills you need. The Practice Development Nurse (PDN) will see you regularly to give you the opportunity to chat openly and honestly about how you are settling it and will monitor your progress. You will have generic and specific competencies to work through, alongside regular Trauma and Orthopaedic skills teaching with the PDN and Trauma Practitioners.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
