We are looking for highly motivated enthusiastic nurses with high standards of professionalism to work in our very exciting new Surgical Assessment Unit soon to be known as "Same Day Emergency Care Unit ( SDEC)". This is a fabulous opportunity of working in a unit that is being expanded in a phased approach with the first phase of 8 trollies open in December, incorporating the specialties of General Surgery, Urology, ENT, Max Fax and Ophthalmology.

The final phase of SDEC will comprise of 8 trollies and 9 treatment chairs with a further 5 trolley procedure rooms and a large waiting room which allows the unit to deal with a vast number of referrals from GP’s and A+E. The aim of SDEC is to turn round ambulatory patients quickly using quick diagnostics, hot clinics and virtual inpatient lists to save on bed days, improving patient flow by promoting Home First.

This is an opportunity to develop clinically, personally and professionally in an exciting unit, learning skills such as cannulation and venepuncture along with first line sepsis management and looking after minor post operative procedures .

The unit has an excellent established nursing team who will be able to support and assist your development . We are a friendly welcoming team who pride ourselves in both nurturing staff and providing high standards of care for all our patients. A 4 week supernumerary induction is provided with an allocated experienced mentor gaining experience in the triage process and sepsis management.

All applicants will need to work 12-hour shifts compromising of days and nights and able to work weekends.
