About the Role

As the Payroll Project Support, you will be responsible for the supporting all Payroll projects, including the testing of all Payroll systems.

This is a varied role. You won’t be involved in the day to day running of Payroll, rather you will be updating, enhancing, upgrading and improving systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities will include;

  • Testing of all payroll systems including identifying defects, implementing defect resolutions & enhancements and patching & support pack testing
  • Working with and producing test scripts
  • Tracking project requirements and milestones using a variety of project management systems
  • Supporting the Payroll Project Team with testing and project administration as needed
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders e.g., Reward team, People Services, Group IT etc.
  • Providing training and support to the Payroll team and wider business to support the roll out of system, process changes and deliver training
  • Some travel may be required in the fulfilment of responsibilities; Handforth, Swindon, Northampton & Stoke

About You

You will have a background within Payroll, understanding Payroll legislation & compliance requirements, and you’ll want to be involved in changing and improving the Payroll systems and processes.

This role will suit someone who enjoys a varied and changeable work schedule. You must be able to work well with many different teams and stakeholders, and you must also be able to work independently. Pets at Home Group currently process payroll for over 16,000 colleagues and therefore high-volume payroll and testing experience is beneficial.

Further key experience/attributes required include;

  • Ability to provide direction on impact to Payroll systems and processes
  • Proven experience of end-to-end payroll processing
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and use it intelligently
  • Well organised and able to work to a high level of accuracy with keen attention to detail
  • Strong IT skills and an excellent understanding of Microsoft Excel (e.g., vlookups, macros, validation, conditional formatting)
  • Positive, forward-thinking attitude.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate and partner effectively with cross-functional teams (including knowledge share and deliver training as needed)
  • Honest and trustworthy, an individual who is able to comfortably handle confidential information & adhere to all GDPR legislation
