Could you bring your Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker experience to support patients at Manchester Central for Manchester University Foundation Trust?

 

Team: Discharge to Assess Team, Manchester Community Response Service  

 

Directorate: Integrated Community Service        

 

Base:  Manchester - Central

 

Hours : Full time / 37.5 hours per week / 7 days a week service (including BH) / extended hours 08:00 – 22:00       



Who are we looking for?

 

We are looking for experienced Band 3 Senior Healthcare support worker to join the Discharge to Assess Team, Manchester Community Response Service to join the staff bank, to support a wide range of flexible shifts.

 

What will be your main responsibilities?

 

The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the following:

 

  • To implement treatment programmes under the guidance of a registered therapist.
  • To deliver care and support within agreed competencies.
  • To undertake walking practice both in and out of doors to increase independence.
  • To instruct and supervise patients climbing and descending stairs with or without walking aids.
  • To demonstrate safe wheel chair use.
  • To provide planned advice, teaching and instruction to patients, relatives and carers.
  • Combination of sitting, walking and standing.
  •  Frequent requirement for sitting in a restricted position e.g. when working at a computer.
  • Word processing and data inputting for a proportion of working time.

 


To apply for this post, you will have:

 

  • GCSE/’O’ levels in numeracy and literacy NVQ II or above.
  • Some understanding of the needs of older people.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the team and independently.
  • Ability to work under supervision.
  • General workplace experience.
  • Previous experience of work in a health or social care setting.
  • Experience of work with the elderly /frail.
  • Ability & experience of teaching practical skills.
  • Ability to move and handle patients and equipment with appropriate training.
  • Able to develop and maintain effective communication with a range of people about a range of matters.
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Able to deal with sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Able to maintain quality of own work.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • Life skills gained through work or personal experience.
  • Good communicator both written and verbal.
  • Computer Skills / IT literate.
  • Able to apply knowledge of policies, procedures, legislation and professional standards of practice.
  • Understanding of the MDT roles.
  • Knowledge of the support worker role and how it benefits patients.
  • Able to work to time pressures and unpredictable work pattern.
  • Motivated and patient focussed.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Able to work the daily / weekly shift pattern of the team / service.
  • To work across health and social care to support the remit of the MCR team in the community.
  • Clean and smart appearance.
  • Car driver / owner / access to car essential
