Pay Rates:Day £16.13 ph,Saturday/Night£20.97 ph,Sunday/Bank Holiday£25.80 ph.

Flexible shifts including Late and early shifts, long day, and night shifts

West Berkshire Community Hospital is situated in the historic market townof Thatchamin the county ofBerkshire. This is 3 miles east of Newbury,14 miles west of Reading with close access to M4 Junction 13 located 3 miles north of the town.

Responsibilities:

  • To promote and maintain a high standard of individualised care by actively contributing to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of care, ensuring that care plans are used effectively, adhered to, and updated as the patient’s condition dictates.
  • To maintain a safe, welcoming environment for patients, relatives, visitors, and staff.
  • To achieve competency and work within competency framework.
  • To demonstrate clinical decision-making skills, displaying evidence-based practice.
  • To deliver patient care using a variety of clinical skills in line with competency framework.
  • To adhere to medicine management policy, patient group directives and other relevant procedures and guidelines to ensure the safe preparation and administration of medicines.
  • To ensure that patient safety is maintained and that risk management systems are utilised correctly.
  • To ensure safe and correct use of equipment.
  • To establish working relationships with other professionals, Voluntary agencies, and Stakeholders.
  • To be actively involved in promoting self-care for patients and building health promotion into care as appropriate.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to cope under pressure.

Experience required:

  • A minimum 6 months paid experience at Band 5 Registered Nurse.

Please note:

From 1 April 2022 it will become a legal requirement for health and social care staff who have direct, face-to-face contact with patients/service users to provide evidence of a complete course of an authorised COVID-19 vaccine unless they are exempt.

This requirement also extends to non-clinical staff not directly involved in patient/service user care, but who may have direct, face-to-face contact with patients/service users in the course of their work.

Applicants who fall within the scope of the legal requirements will be asked to evidence their vaccination status, or valid exemption, as part of the recruitment process.
