Enable H&B to achieve its ambitious growth strategy.  Drive the pursuit of M&A to enable the transformation of H&B from a traditional retailer to a best in class, omni-channel business and end to end wellness provider.

 H&B has a strategy to grow significantly organically and inorganically, over the next few years. The successful identification, assessment and acquisition of business that will complement H&B and support these growth ambitions will be critical. This role will be responsible for all financial considerations related to this process including preparing and presenting analysis, working with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting the decision making.

The candidate will be a core member of the Corporate Finance team and work closely with the Corporate Finance Director and Senior Finance team in pursuit of M&A and driving strategic growth plans through efficient capital investment. The candidate will be charged with supporting transaction processes including market research, deal origination, screening and selection, and execution.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Support the Corporate Finance team to expedite the strategy through M&A, investments and JV/strategic partnerships
  • Support origination of acquisition opportunities based on commercial, financial and strategic merit
  • Complete financial, buy-side due diligence and prepare bid documentation in M&A processes
  • Support all phases of the transaction cycle from offer drafting through to deal execution and lead integration work streams post completion
  • Work closely with investment banks and internal finance teams to build financial models and to evaluate, challenge, and stress-test these models with robust scenarios and sensitivities
  • Maintain a dynamic M&A pipeline that requires active dialogue with internal and external stakeholders and regular updates to the team
  • Track key developments and trends in capital markets and target industries to understand how they impact our business units and relay that information internally
  • Maintain a record of recent transactions and key metrics that are relevant to our strategy
  • Perform financial analysis of peer companies and precedent transactions across relevant sub-sectors and geographies within our strategic focus areas
  • Maintain a strategic relationships tracker including corporates, founders, PE funds, advisors and consultants
  • Prepare investment recommendation papers for investment committee and Board of Directors

About You

  • 1-3 years' experience in investment banking, PE or in-house corporate finance functions. Will ideally have completed analyst and/or associate in house training programs
  • Capability to stretch, grow and develop on a fast trajectory with a passion for continuous learning
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in building financial models, including valuation and debt modelling
  • High degree of numeracy and attention to detail
  • Sound understanding of capital structure and corporate finance
  • M&A execution experience, including managing due diligence and transaction documentation processes
  • An entrepreneurial, self-starter attitude, and comfortable working in a small, autonomous team
  • Experience working in a high growth, fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • A team player that can work effectively across the organisation
  • Actively seeks and take on new challenges
  • Strong organisation skills and ability to multi-task, set priorities and deliver
  • Highly responsive with ability to work to tight deadlines given the dynamics of M&A
