What are you going to do:

In a Full Time Finance Officer job in York, your main duty is to support with the finance aspects of the company.

Our client operate a bespoke database system which records all of their business processes, from sales quotes to receipt of payment from the customer, and reports for management. The finance system is part of this, and records all aspects of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and they have a single-entry bookkeeping system.

Teamwork is really important, because the Finance Team is a small team, where tasks are shared, and it is usual for team members to be able to complete a wide variety of tasks, and have a varied workload.

You will liaise closely with: Logistics and Sales Teams, occasionally with a customer or a supplier so confidence is key!

These are the main tasks of the Department, team members share the work.

Accounts Payable:

  • Checking and processing all supplier invoices: for goods, couriers and office consumables
  • Checking and processing credit card statements
  • Making payments to suppliers, including pro-forma payments and weekly and monthly payment runs
  • Using online banking
  • Dealing with credits for suppliers

Accounts Receivable:

  • Recording customer payments
  • Setting up customer credit accounts
  • Creating pro-forma invoices to customers
  • Receiving payments from customers by credit card
  • Ships and Holds instructions to logistics

Sales Support and Administration:

  • Dealing with the Accounts Inbox
  • RMA's – process the returning of parts from customers/send back to suppliers
  • Checking sales orders for accuracy and customers credit limits.

This is NOT an exhaustive and definitive list of duties for this role. Other duties may be assigned to you, which you will be expected to complete.

Hours of work:

  • 08:45 to 17:30 Monday to Thursday, and 08:45 to 16:30 on Fridays!

Pay Rate/Salary:

  • £11.20 to £12.20 per hour dependent on experience.
  • £250 Quarterly Targeted Bonus (3 monthly)
