Connected offers adopted children and young people aged 7 – 25 years across Wales monthly activity groups, digital sessions, one to one support and family days to name a few. The group offers a space for children and young people to come together with others who are adopted, to feel safe, be themselves, make connections and have fun.

What you’ll be doing

Working 30 hours a week (some evenings and 2 – 3 weekends per month) you will have an amazing opportunity in this exciting role to support adopted children and young people in Southwest including Swansea, Mid and West Wales, by supporting and delivering our existing Connected activity groups.

You will be joining a committed and motivated team and environment that will reward and challenge you and develop your skills and experience further.

You will

  • Work closely with the team to deliver and promote all four elements of Connect.
    • Support the organisation to provide national events for adopted children and young people.
    • Raise awareness by ensuring the young, adopted person and their family are aware of accessing adoption support services.
    • Process referrals, initial engagement and set measurable outcomes for families.
    • Supervise and organise the Child and Youth Support workers.

 

Who you are.

Having demonstrable skills in supporting children and young people and passionate about making a difference you will,

  • Be able to meet the criteria of the role profile in the candidate pack
    • Have experience of managing groups for children and young people
    • Ideally have sound knowledge of the principles of the UNCRC, with a good in-depth understanding of the needs of adopted or looked after children
    • At least 2 years’ experience of working in a youth setting
    • Have the ability to relate to children and young people
    • Hold a youth work degree or equivalent level of experience.
    • Have a full driving licence and access to a car

The contract is permanent, with a prorated salary of £26,917 per annum.

The office base is near Crosshands and there is the opportunity to be flexible with home working as agreed with the manager. The role will involve travelling to deliver sessions in Swansea and venues in West Wales and potentially Mid Wales.
