Manager, Summer Camp

Are you highly skilled with people and super organised? Our camp manager position is very well paid and includes board and lodging.

38 - 40 hours per week
Between £690.00 and £800.00 Per Week

What are you going to do:

We are looking for an exceptional person to lead the team at our Winchester venue, for four weeks from July 29 to August 26, 2022.  (We are also looking for other managers for one or more weeks at our Abingdon venue (July 25 to August 12) and London Fulham venue (July 18 to August 5) As this position involves managing staff and dealing with sometimes tricky issues with campers, you must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experience in leading others and working with children.

Because of the leadership and management skills needed, we are ideally looking for a candidate aged 21+.  It is possible a younger candidate may be suitable but it would be an exceptional candidate who would have the skills and experience needed for this role at a younger age.

The manager is ultimately responsible for the complete running of our venue.  Full training will be given before the event, but typical duties would include leading staff meetings before the camp starts with tutors, organising schedules for staff, leading daily meetings with campers, assisting tutors with discipline issues involving campers, supervising campers during breaks, and being the lead first aider for the camp.  (This involves a separate 1 day course which we will require the manager to complete).

What we offer:

  • Top pay
  • Accommodation and food provided in addition
  • A positive working environment with motivated and talented staff
  • Full training and support from experienced staff

What we ask:

  • Teamwork
  • Leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Problem solving
  • Experience working with children
  • No minimum education required
  • Right to work in UK
  • Potential to work for multiple seasons/years

Extra information

Anyone with the required skills and experience is welcome, but applicants who have completed (or nearing the end of) a teaching degree or similar would be particularly encouraged to apply.  As the role involves managing other staff and speaking to a large group of children at a time it is important that you are completely confident in this sort of environment.

We are ideally looking for someone who may be available for all four weeks of camp, and potentially for future seasons.

As the Winchester venue is a residential camp, this is a very busy environment and involves being responsible for children at night as well as during the day.  As we have students arriving every Sunday, this also includes some weekend work, although between weeks the manager normally has Friday evening through Sunday morning off duty. (The other venues involve only Mon-Fri work).

Please state, in detail, how you meet the above criteria in your covering letter.
