We are seeking Band 5 Mental Health Nurses (RMN’S) for our Mother & Baby Unit (MBU); this is an exciting opportunity to join us at Jasmine Lodge.
Jasmine Lodge is an 8 bedded unit inpatient Mother & Baby unit in Exeter, Devon. Mothers are admitted to Jasmine Lodge from 32 weeks pregnant up to 12 months post-natal.
Mother are admitted with their baby to receive mental health treatment for moderate to severe mental health problems. Jasmine Lodge aim to support mothers to recover, whilst maintaining and building a relationship with their baby.
While perinatal experience is desired, it is not a requirement of the job. You will be provided with a bespoke perinatal induction that will give you an overview of the entire perinatal service, including MBU Outreach and the perinatal community teams. If you are a newly qualified nurse, Devon Partnership Trust will support you with a comprehensive and robust preceptorship program.
Specialist education and training will be available with regards to baby care, however, Jasmine Lodge is an inpatient mental health ward, therefore any health concerns of a baby will be signposted to primary care or A&E.
Jasmine Lodge is a new unit that opened in 2018, there are a core number of staff who have remained at Jasmine Lodge from opening, giving you opportunity to learn from their practices.

About youThe successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, commitment to working flexibly, participating in the internal 24 hours, 7 day a week rota to meet the needs of people who use our services, be able to demonstrate effective working in a multi-disciplinary team setting and demonstrate a commitment to further development with the support of the team.
This role is on a ward that operates on a 24/7 shift basis and therefore enables staff to qualify for unsocial enhancements in addition to their basic pay.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate sound clinical decision making and clinical leadership skills for running the ward as the Nurse in Charge. We are looking for a person/family centred Nurse who is compassionate and caring towards the women in our care.
There will be an excellent level of professionalism demonstrated in the successful candidate who leads by example and supports junior staff through supervision and when leading the shift.
Staff are encouraged and supported to use quality improvement methodology to help improve on the services we offer. The Trust Quality improvement Academy provides access to expert advice and support in your work area.
