Introduction

Are you an Occupational Therapist Assistant looking for a new challenge, where you can be a part of meaningful change? Join The Bridge in Middlesbrough and feel valued and support as you support people build a brighter future. 

Working 37.5 hours a week, you will join the Occupational Therapy Team on a 12 months Fixed Term Contract at The Bridge. You will provide care for residents with various complex neurological and respiratory conditions.

Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will support the service in delivering structured activities and assisting in the planning for individual and group therapeutic interventions. You will build one-to-one rapports with service users to encourage participation in activities and empower recovery. 

As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will contribute to the assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and modification of structured activities in order to measure progression and ensure effectiveness. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing effective and accurate clinical entries and outcomes of activities using an electronic patient database system
  • Developing patients’ programmes as informed by individual patient’s needs
  • Assisting the occupational therapy team run on and off ward sessions.
  • Participating in monthly clinical supervision with the Occupational Therapist and the organisation's system of appraisal
  • Developing and supporting the introduction of vocational rehabilitation
  • To assist Occupational Therapists, Nurses and other MDT staff in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual care plans.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including care notes, written reports and discharge summaries in accordance with hospital and professional standard.
  • To provide technical support and instruction to patients engaging in creative and vocational activities as therapeutic interventions

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registered OT with Dip COT qualification or degree
  • Previous experience of working with adults and or young people with mental health disorders
  • Any other specific skills which can be utilised in this setting: Art & Craft, Horticulture, Cooking, Music
  • Previous experience in organising/facilitating social events and activities.
  • Any relevant certificates, courses and skills that would enhance the delivery and diversity of therapeutic activities
  • Strong knowledge of best practices within a similar setting
