Being an Activities Co-ordinator is so much more than just organising programmes. It's providing care and support to some of the most vulnerable people in society so they can do something they couldn't do before. It's what delivering great healthcare should feel like.

Working 37.5 hours a week, you will join the team at The Bridge in Middlesbrough where you will work towards creating an activity-based culture. You will use your technical and creative skills to assist in developing, delivering, and coordinating a programme of social, recreational and leisure activities. You will also support the Occupational Therapy team in developing links with community-based resources to support residents to engage in community-based activities and develop roles and routines that are supportive of occupational participation and the adoption of more active lifestyle.

As an Activities Coordinator, you will create an activity-based culture, which will see you use technical and creative skills to assist in developing, delivering, and coordinating programmes focused on social, recreational and leisure activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing effective and accurate clinical entries and outcomes of activities using an electronic patient database system
  • Co-ordinate social and recreational activities for service users within the secure environment who are unable to freely access public services. 
  • Developing patients’ programmes as informed by individual patient’s needs
  • Participating in monthly clinical supervision with the Occupational Therapist and the organisation's system of appraisal
  • To ensure that health and safety, welfare and security standards for service users, staff and their visitors are adhered to.
  • Developing and supporting the introduction of vocational rehabilitation
  • Be able to manage the activities budget; including petty cash; reconciling receipts etc.
  • Managing resources and timely re-ordering in order stock levels of craft and art activities

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Previous experience of working with adults and or young people with mental health disorders
  • Full clean UK driving license 
  • Ability to build and maintain therapeutic relationships
  • Any other specific skills which can be utilised in this setting: Art & Craft, Horticulture, Cooking, Music
  • Previous experience in organising/facilitating social events and activities.
  • Any relevant certificates, courses and skills that would enhance the delivery and diversity of therapeutic activities
