Training Manager - Operations

Right now, we are looking for an Operational Training Manager to join The Pets At Home Distribution Centre’s in Stoke with a move to our new Distribution Centre in Stafford when we open in 2023.

The Role:

Working as a key part of the planning team for Stafford, you will support and work with the operational team and people team to own the skills training requirements for new colleagues and current colleagues to refresh skill requirements. 

Responsible for the operational training team onsite, delivering exceptional training to support the performance of the Stafford Fulfilment Centre.  Your role will focus on improving our colleague’s performance at our Stafford site across the warehouse operations team, enhancing the skills, knowledge and behaviours to help sustain our Pet Care Eco System, providing quality training to attract and retain our future talent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the operational training department, embed our values, behaviours & capabilities, Identify and assess the training needs of the operation through analysis and consultation with management.
  • Lead a training team across a 24/7 operation, ensuring training resources add value and are best fit for the audience.
  • Evaluate the centre's performance to ensure that training is meeting business needs and improving performance.
  • Drive the Group culture through all training and development activities.
  • Deliver and embed the vision for the Stafford Fulfilment Centre's skills training programme, aligning objectives to key strategic drivers.
  • Engage and challenge effectively with all stakeholders, understanding priorities and promoting the internal learning programmes, raising awareness, engagement, and participation
  • Collaborate with the operational team to develop training manuals and SOP’s.
  • Build links with external networks and awarding bodies, to ensure we deliver leading edge solutions, ensuring our programme evolve and become best in class.
  • Manage the technologies and technical system knowledge required to develop, manage, and deliver training.
  • Develop & deliver an in-house suite of operational training programmes and implement effective and purposeful training methods.
  • Work in partnership with leaders to design content that is relevant and where applicable work with the broader learning team including third parties.
  • Own the skills matrix ensuring MHE licences are up to date and compliant.
  • Work with the Colleague Experience Lead to create and drive a consistent 12 week review process for all warehouse colleagues. 
  • Ensure content delivery of training is relevant and beneficial to both the colleague and our business.
