Salary:              Up to £34,000 per annum

Hours:              42.5 per week; Monday to Friday

About the Role

No two days are the same at Meadowcroft so we want staff who can work at pace to turn ‘can’t do’ into ‘want to’ and are motivated by working with pupils with complex needs. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with pupils in a calm and engaging demeanour, whilst being resilient using an innovative style of teaching motivated by your belief that every pupil can achieve and reach their potential.

Main purpose

The SENCO, under the direction of the headteacher, will:

  • Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school.
  • Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability.
  • Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents, and other agencies.

Qualifications

  • National Award for SEN Co-ordination, or a willingness to complete it within 3 years of appointment.
  • Degree
  • QTS

Experience

  • Teaching/ HLTA experience
  • Experience of working at a whole-school level
  • Involvement in self-evaluation and development planning
