Role: Senior Risk Manager
12 months FTC
Location: Manchester or London (or within commutable distance)
Hybrid (2 days per week in office)
This is an exciting time to join a fantastic RIsk Team on a 12 month FTC basis to cover maternity leave. You will be leading the risk team, and this role will form an integral part of the business. You will work closely with the CRO and other stakeholders across the business.
The role will support a broad range of risk management activities, with a particular focus on enterprise risk and financial risk for HSB UK&I.
Key Responsibilities:
Building relationships with stakeholders in the business to understand their priorities and operational risk issues in their areas,
Be responsible and manage risk analysis, risk reporting up to the Board,
Lead the second line risk work on ORSA report and the ORSA processes, including business plan reviews, stress, and scenario testing, and assessing capital adequacy and key and emerging insurance and financial risks,
Perform deep-dive reviews on hot topics influencing risk profile,
Provide independent review and challenge of operations strategy, processes, governance, and control,
Manage the risk team activities,
Support with the development of the wider risk management framework,
Help identify the operational risk exposures and deliver/design an assurance plan which provides sufficient coverage of the risks,
Manage the oversight of the Operational Risk exposures against risk appetite,
Promote a strong, risk & control culture,
Assess results and propose pragmatic mitigation and / or management actions,
Presentation of results in a clear and concise report,
Develop key risk indicators to provide an early signal in respect of risk exposures,
Review of the risk exposure assessment process with the owners to ensure appropriateness in respect of the stated appetite/ tolerance,
Provide risk training for senior members and develop a regular training scheme for new starters,
Use the latest publications and industry developments to identify and escalate relevant emerging risks.
Key Skills & Experience:
Methodical approach to problem solving, with a high diligence.
Ability to act pragmatically in the face of new challenges and exercise sound judgements based on overall business needs.
Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, and ability to tailor communication to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to prepare comprehensive professionally written reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in providing risk challenge to the first line and producing and presenting risk analysis to internal and external stakeholders
