We are seeking a Senior Pensions Consultant to join our Public Sector Consulting team. This team provides actuarial, benefit and governance consultancy services to UK Public Service Pension Schemes, primarily the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Responsibilities :
Strategic leadership of the team, developing and growing the services offered and delivered
Line management, training and development of the team members
Checking a range of member and employer calculations
Preparing quotes and tender responses and attending new business pitches
Hosting client, industry and Barnett Waddingham meetings, events and seminars
Sitting on industry bodies and participating in industry working groups
Taking responsibility for allocation and completion of work, and meeting deadlines, ensuring clients are kept informed
Maintaining an understanding of the requirements of the Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations, and other guidance as they develop
Maintaining an understanding of pensions tax legislation, and Pensions Regulator and governance requirements as they develop
Provision of benefits and governance advice, guidance and administration support service to clients
Peer reviewing significant pieces of advice in accordance with professional requirements
Experience/Qualifications:
Experience of working at a high level within an organisation to administer the Local Government Pension Scheme, includinginteracting with senior officers, and at Board and Committee meetings.
Experience of carrying out and explaining complex tax calculations in respect of the Local Government Pension Scheme, or another public service defined benefit pension scheme
Experience of dealing with governance matters in connection with a public service pension scheme
Desirable to have a pensions or business qualification with a recognised professional body
IT skills to perform all aspects of work efficiently including WORD, Excel and PowerPoint
Good presentation skills to small and large audiences both face to face and online, and able to effectively host and chair meetings and events
