This dynamic position involves hands-on laboratory and site-based activities, focusing on projects in the energy and/or oil & gas sectors. Be a key player in solving complex issues arising from asset failures and contribute to both office-based and field projects. Responsibilities

1. Individual Technical/Project Delivery (Main focus of role): Contribute to and draft technical and commercial proposals. Apply engineering expertise to analyse and assess in-service damage, maintenance issues, and failures. Support investigations through field, desk-based, and lab-based activities, utilizing test equipment and specialist software. Produce technical reports with clear conclusions and recommendations. Collaborate with in-house engineers on mechanical, metallurgical, process, and electrical issues. Manage project portfolios to meet Performance, Cost, and Time budgets.

2. BD and Marketing Activity (Supplementary to main technical role): Identify new clients and maintain relationships with existing ones. Attend technical conferences and networking events. Contribute to the creation of technical papers. Promote service offerings through suitable social media channels.

3. Business Unit HS&E activities: Adhere to company QHSE policy and HSAW 1974. Ensure safe work practices and assist with lab equipment procurement and maintenance.

Knowledge

In-depth knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines. Proficiency in rotating machinery, including gearboxes, pumps, diesel engines, compressors, industrial turbines, generators, and motors. Understanding of materials processing and in-service degradation for rotating machines. Familiarity with forensic analytical techniques and relevant codes (e.g., API 610-619, 691, and 692). Experience: Life assessments and damage mechanisms experience in rotating equipment/plant. Previous work in an OEM, Operator, or Engineering Consultancy Environment, including offshore. Investigative experience in the physical condition of electromechanical equipment across various sectors. Successful management and delivery of technical projects. Experience in expert witness work (advantageous). Ideally, proficiency in requisite engineering software tools. Skills: Demonstrable practical ability with a methodical and organized hands-on approach. Analytical problem solver with a knack for promoting innovative ideas. Effective communication and strong listening skills. Leadership ability within a supportive and agile team. Exceptional attention to detail in practical, analytical, and written work. Proficient in Microsoft Office tools and relevant software applications. Exceptional report writing skills with a logical and tailored approach.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree qualified (minimum 2:1) or higher (MEng, MSc, or PhD) in mechanical, aeronautical, electrical, or materials engineering. Specialist training in rotating equipment as part of degree or postgraduate study. Chartered Engineer status or working towards it. Member or Fellow of an appropriate Chartered Engineering organisation/institute. Full UK driving license.
