Senior Project Manager, MRC Adolescent Health Study (AHS) Salary: £54,043 Contract Type: Fixed Term 12 months Hours: Full Time Location: Polaris House, Swindon, Wiltshire(Hybrid) Closing date: 18/03/24 As Senior Project Manager for AHS you will be part of a small centralised administrative team. Reporting to the AHS Director, you will have oversight and responsibility for delivery of AHS activities, ensuring that objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints. This will require close and effective working with AHS study site teams to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered and any risks to delivering the study are identified and managed. About the Adolescent Health Study AHS will be a new longitudinal population study and data platform to enable research on critical biological and social factors that affect development during adolescence, with a key focus on health equity. It is designed to be representative of the full range of socioeconomic and ethnic diversity in the UK, including groups that are often under-represented in population research. AHS plans to recruit 100,000 participants between the ages of 8-18 years across multiple study sites. Person Specification Knowledge, Skills and Experience Extensive experience of leading the successful delivery of major projects/programmes across multiple teams or stakeholders with detailed knowledge of project management tools, methodology and standard process. Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate presentations and written documentation for a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including a proven understanding of MS Office packages (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.). Excellent numeracy skills, with experience of handling budgets. Knowledge of or curiosity about health sciences, adolescent health and the wider research landscape. Educated to degree level in a relevant field, or equivalent experience. Competencies Ability to capture actions and tasks required in agreement with team members and stakeholders and build a plan/schedule of work taking into account project scope, outputs, time scales, resource requirements and budget and identifying the accountable people. Ability to make judgements and resolve sophisticated or difficult problems, frequently in the absence of precedent, requiring originality or departure from established ways of working. Understand the importance of managing and mitigating risks and issues and raising where required Ability to form strong working relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders at all levels, whilst being able to challenge, negotiate, influence and persuade where necessary Ability to work independently and use initiative when required, as well as being an encouraging part of the wider team. Ability to plan and prioritise workload, adapting flexibly and quickly to different tasks and challenges and handling several tasks simultaneously.
